Vince Kroff on Profile flow for 2009!
|
Back in September of 06, we took an week long trip to Washington and Oregon. By democratic procedures (which are never easy), Portland ended up being the very last leg of the trip; we were tired, half of us didn't want to ride, but the half that did hooked up with some locals and went downtown for an afternoon session. Vince Kroff was one of those locals who graciously took us to the nooks and crannies of the city and made our only day in Portland worth the four our drive outside of our original trip plans. Not only was he a dialed guide, he was/is an awesome person to hang and chat with.
Fast forward two years...Vince was riding for Premium but has more recently hooked up with Subrosa. It was a no-brainer to hook him up with Profile components back in September. But now, for the new year, we had a spot open for flow. After talking a bit, Vince seemed to fall into place perfectly for 09. Welcome to the team!

1.You're originally from the Oregon coast...so how far from Goonie's rock?
I grew up in Lincoln City, which is 2 hours sounth of where the Goonies was filmed. I 've been up there plenty of times. The Oregon Coast is SO beautiful.
2.How was it growing up there riding, not so much the winters but more the rain and dealing with the lack of places to ride. Oregon has/has had mostly outdoor parks right?
Growing up and riding in Oregon was a little tough. It rains all winter then when we would get a chance to get to a park the skaters were def not cool. But now its pretty chill, pretty much all the parks allow bikes and there are a couple indoor spots to hit up.
3.When did you make the move to Portland? And what was the deciding factor?
I moved to Portland once I graduated from high school. There was no one left in my town that rode so I had to get out and Portland was the best choice.
4.Where are you at now? You were staying in San Diego for a bit, right?
I love Oregon but when winter hits I'm pretty much all over the place. I spend alot of time in Cali. and right now i'm in San Diego. San Diego is amazing!
5.I'm assuming its not hard to find people to session with out there? What/where are you riding mostly in SD?
Me, Kyle Hart and Hoang Tran are always shreding something. We've been hitting alot of concrete parks lately. Recently all of them have become un-supervised parks because the city cant afford to pay anyone to work at them. So mostly shredin the concrete wave!
6.Is Portland going to be back on your radar for a bit?
I thought I was, but I went back home to Portland 3 weeks ago and the weather was really bumming me out. So I flew back down to San Diego for Banksgiving Jam at Dennis Enerson's house, the jam was so RAD and im really stoked to be back in SD. Portland is always my home and when spring rolls around i'll be back. |
