How This is Made #2: Profile Gas Pedal Bodies
The new Profile 09' Gas pedals are being made as we speak. Curious how the aluminum bodies are made? This is how:

After the blanks are sliced from a large piece of rectangular aluminum bar stock, four blanks are placed into the "ferris wheel" to start the machining process.

Three sides are completed in the first step: the pedal platform, and the bushing and bearing side of the spindle sleeve.

The pedals are then flipped over to the second side and are finished. We've been able to program the machines to finish a pedal body in only two steps. Each pedal body takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. All of those chips of aluminum? They all go into 55 gallon drums, which we then recycle. We just about fill up a dumpster a week with those chips. Pedals and stems probably generate the most excess.

Complete and ready for anodizing.

The new Profile 09' Gas Pedals will be available in a couple weeks!
