2014 SSA Florida Cup Qualifier 1-2 Riverview, FL
The 2014 Florida Cup series kicked off early with its first stop at Riverview BMX for qualifiers 1 and 2. With the Florida based Profile riders all in attendance the team was ready to start the state cup season and also get a little more riding in before the Grand’s.
Starting things off in cruiser, Casey Minthorn rocketed his way through the motos and into the main for a 3rd on Saturday and a win on Sunday. In his expert class he ran 4th on Saturday and then backed that up with a second on Sunday. That makes 3 podiums for the weekend.
His brother, Caleb Minthorn was racing expert in the stacked 17-18 expert class. Caleb sped around the track in the motos and main for the 2nd on Saturday. On Sunday Caleb had a great gate and first straight and was railing the first turn when traffic pushed him up to the top of the turn and almost over it! Caleb was calm and balanced as he countered the push and pulled out of the turn without losing a place. He finished out the main with a 3rd.
With a big, 13 girls class, Lauren Lanzilotta had plenty of competition this weekend. She took it all in stride and ran strong through the motos and into the main to take a 4th.
Tanner Engle had a good run this weekend in his 13 expert class. He sailed into a 3rd place finish on Saturday to take home a well-earned podium finish.
John Pringle was looking ready for the Grand’s with nice races in both expert and cruiser. He brought home three podium finishes this weekend with a 3rd in expert and a 2nd and 1st in cruiser.
Overall the team looked sharp and ready and got a great start to the 2014 season. A big thank you to team manager Gus Lanzilotta for your support this weekend, we couldn’t do it without you! Also a big thanks to the team back at home base, Jim, Nancy, (and especially) Charlie and the rest of the crew for the support.
