Down to the Basics: Tapping.

Over the next couple weeks, we’re going to go over the six, basic machine processes that go into making our parts; Turning, Hobbing, Milling, Tapping, Boring, Parting, and Broaching.

Although there are numerous post-production steps that go into finishing a Profile Racing part, this is where it starts.

Up Fifth: Tapping.

Tapping is done on any of our machines.

Everything that needs a hole, needs to be drilled; which is 60 – 70% of Profile’s product.

Tapping in house is done two different ways:

  1. In our lathes, the part turns and the tool is stationary.
  2.  In our mills, the tool turns and the part is stationary.

The Titanium spindles above are tapped on our lathes.
