The Progression of the Profile Cassette Hub

We went digging in the Dungeon yesterday to conjure some of the known (and not-so-known) predecessors of the Profile cassette hubs that fill our shelves in 2020.

Let’s start here:

Profile Gyro-lite freewheel hubs, 2nd generation, early 80’s. Far left: Drive-Bi version. Middle: Standard freewheel set. Far left: Magnesium version.

Profile Wheelchair compatible hub circa late 80’s.

Triathlon 3-piece hubs with carbon fiber center made for the company T-gear. 100 sets made.

Taking the basic design of the Profile Gen-1 Gyrolite hubs, we made this variation for Hyper Bikes around 1996.

The original set of Profile “Kegger” hubs circa 1994. This hub design was the immediate predecessor of the Profile High Flange Cassette hub.

The evolution of the Profile Cassette hub. From left to right: Kegger (94′), High Flange Cassette (97′), Mini (01′), Elite (10′).
