The Smallest Show on Earth: Jared Eberwein, quarantine entertainment.
With the year 2020 being a complete wash for entertainment, BMX shows have been an empty void for me to say the least. I genuinely miss riding in shows and performing, hoping for the best turn around ever.
Meanwhile, my boys had a good idea of putting on our own BMX show just for ourselves in our driveway. That’s exactly what we went to work doing, moving all the cars around and out of the way. Shimmy the ramp as tucked back as we could to create space, I say we, the boys were my spotters and supporters.
Once we got both ramps into place, next we worked on setting up the PA system. To my surprise, both of my boys were excited to get on the microphone and play with it. I don’t think they would be the same in front of a crowd though, and I can’t blame them. That was one of the hardest things for me to overcome with shows, announcing, still certain situations are more difficult than others. Put the boys in our driveway, with ramps, and mic in hand, good to go.
We had fun for a couple of days doing our own shows in the driveway for ourselves. The boys would want to go out and “do a show” every 10-15 min, but only last about 5-10 min. Slowly their idea of a show became me just speaking on the microphone the whole time while they rode or not, they just wanted me to talk and announce EVERYTHING, which technically is what a show is, haha. But theirs didn’t last long at all, and they like to jump on the mic at the end of the show every time and just freestyle. I’m glad I’ve had my little show buddies.
