Origin Story — The Profile Logo.
In a recent conversation with Jim Alley, Owner and Founder of Profile Racing, we learned that the original “Profile” logo was conceived in the late sixties by a friend of his in Flemington, NJ.
The artist presented “about six or seven logos,” and upon seeing them, Jim had an immediate visceral reaction to one in particular. He said he pointed to that specific logo and responded, “That’s the one” (as seen in the flyer below).
And the rest, well, that’s become 55 years of history.
Below is an old flyer dug up from Profile’s dungeon circa 1978. This hand drawn flyer was given to all of Jim’s existing customers in the Oval Track trade announcing the business’s move to the Sunshine State.
Very shortly after, the initial set of Profile 3-piece bmx cranks were made, setting Profile Racing on a new path into the cycling industry.
For Profile’s 55th Anniversary, we’re releasing soft goods that reflect the evolution of Profile’s early logos.
First up, the “Clearwater” tee; an early logo modification once Profile was settled in its new home (Initially) in Clearwater, Florida.
And “Legacy” Mesh Trucker and 5-panel Hats (and patches).
