Profile Racing’s Legacy: Week 11, 1978
In 1978 Profile begins moving toward its BMX bicycle destiny, literally. Jim Alley and family in previous years had vacationed and visited family in Pinellas County, Florida: Clearwater, St. Petersburg and other coastal areas of that county. They loved the warm climate and the sunshine. It would be the perfect location to raise a family. So, they made the decision to move to St. Petersburg and settle down. But, that wasn’t the only reason. Many of the top race car drivers would winter in Florida in the Tampa-Lakeland area during the off season of the NE Sprint/Modified series. This would allow Profile Racing to keep their racing contacts they had established in Flemington, NJ. Also, in 1978, Jim Alley saw a growing manufacturing industry in the area. There were ample opportunities for a small manufacturer to participate in the growing aeronautic, aviation, military and space industries while continuing Profile Racing’s motorsport business. This flyer was sent to Profile Racing’s customers when the time came to leave Flemington, NJ. They would pack everything and move the entire company and physical assets to Florida. It is our legacy Profile Racing feature for this week.
