We Make The Parts, That Make Our Parts: Laser Etching Mandrels.
When giving tours here at the shop, a common theme that pops up while going over our production processes is the idea of “making the parts, that make our parts.”
We have several that fall into that category.
As we’ve only covered this in-depth while on both live (and filmed) tours, we thought we’d highlight some of those mechanisms in detail here for you to see.
Our second post will be a component modified, from a simple tool off the shelf of a hardware store.
Here’s Profile’s Laser Etching Mandrels…
Each Mandrel base (The silver/raw aluminum pieces) are custom made for each component. We have made a total of 10 to fill our product inventory.
Mandrel Variation #1: Set up for our MTB Stems.
Mandrel Variation #2: Set up to fill our hub inventory.
Each mandrel is fitted with a rubber expansion plug (red in color) snagged from the local hardware store. There are a total of 4 to fit varying product.
