We make the parts, that make our parts: Polishing Wand.
When giving tours here at the shop, a common theme that pops up while going over our production processes is the idea of “making the parts, that make our parts.”
We have several that fall into that category.
As we’ve only covered this in-depth while on both live (and filmed) tours, we thought we’d highlight some of those mechanisms in detail here for you to see.
Our first post will actually be a component fresh out of our machines: you’ll be the first to see it here.
Here’s Profile’s Polishing Wand…
This three piece mechanism will be used to give a more detailed polish (with much better ease) on our range of hubs. As seen above, it consists of three pieces:
- 6061 Aluminum Shaft with bearing cup
- 19mm Spanish/Outboard Bearing
- Two sided Delrin plug. One side machined with several different diameters to fit into our wide range of hub shell bearing bores. The other side is a 19mm plug that fits into the 19mm Outboard Bearing
The 19mm side of the Delrin plug fits into the 19mm bearing ID.
And two wands are used on each side, allowing the hub to spin between the wands as it’s being polished.
